Cayman Islands Health and Medical

While most people hope nothing bad happens on an island vacation, it is always wise to be prepared in case it does.

The Cayman Islands have two hospitals. One on Grand Cayman Island and one on Cayman Brac. Those in need of medical attention on Little Cayman must be transferred to Grand Cayman. For emergencies, dial 911.

The most common health risk in the Cayman Islands is sunburn. While this should not be overlooked, it is certainly not a huge health concern. It can, of course, be avoided with liberal use of sunblock. It is also wise to consider hats and barrier creams to protect your face. Remember that tropical sun can be much stronger than the sun in more northern locations. Burns can be soothed using Calamine lotion and aloe vera. It is also wise to wear sunglasses with UV protection, especially when near sand and water.

Water in the Cayman Islands is drinkable. However, if you do not feel comfortable with the water available, you can always ask for bottled waters. In general, the Cayman Islands are equipped to offer visitors a safe vacation.
