Cayman Islands Nightlife

After a day exploring the Cayman Island's in the relentless heat, the setting sun offers a welcome reprieve. Now it's time to unwind with a good meal, a cool drink, and maybe a little bit of dancing.

Nightlife on the Cayman Islands is most prominent on Grand Cayman, where restaurants with lounges and bars are the most popular night time haunts. The dress tends to be casual in these hybrids, while dance clubs are a bit dressier, and some upscale lounges enforce a still more glamorous dress code.

Bars

Aqua Beach Restaurant and Bar

Aqua Beach Restaurant and Bar is inspired by their island surroundings in everything from the décor to the music, and even the menu. Specialty mixed drinks are the main attraction here.

Billy Bones

Billy Bones offers an outdoor bar, dining under the palm trees, and weekly events such as poker competitions and live music.

Bamboo

Bamboo is a trendy restaurant featuring eclectic nouveau cuisine and and upscale bar and lounge. Live music and an energetic staff help ensure that Bamboo stands out.

Calico Jack's

Calico Jack's is a popular beach side bar along Seven Mile Beach.  On most nights, this is a good place for a casual drink, though there are parties that get a little out of hand every so often.  There is a live DJ on Monday nights, an open-mic night on Tuesdays, and local bands play on Fridays.

Coconut Joe's Beach Bar and Grill

Once a run down private house on the wrong side of town, Coconut Joes Beach Bar and Grill is one of the most happening bars in the Cayman Islands.  There is always some kind of special event going on, like beach parties, cruises and more.  The bartenders are known as excellent mixologists, especially with their signature "beergarita."

Cohiba Lounge and Cigar Emporium

Cohiba Lounge and Cigar Emporium is a Cuban cigar and martini lounge. The building houses hundreds of cigars, and cigars and Cuban coffee is sold at duty-free prices. The lounge area offers a relaxed atmosphere and the bar carries a variety of cognacs, rums, wines, and beers.

Decker's

Decker's is named for the English-style double decker bus near the outdoor bar. Indoors you can relax in the comfortable seating and sample fusion cuisine, or you can purchase a drink to sip on while you play through the 18-hole mini-golf course.

Driftwood Sports Bar

Driftwood Sports Bar is one of the few places to stop in the stretch of beach between Rum Point and Reef Resort.  There are three big screen televisions always showing whatever sporting event is going on at that moment, beer is on tap, and there is a barbecue every Saturday.

Edd's Place

Another sports bar in the Cayman islands is Edd's Place.  The crowd here is a little rowdy, but the food is good.  Jerk chicken, burgers, and chop suey are on the menu.

Fidel Murphy's

Fidel Murphy's is the Cayman Island's signature Irish pub.  Not only is most of the staff directly from Ireland, but the building was built by the designers of the Guinness building.

Hammerheads Brew Pub and Grill

Hammerheads is frequented by locals and fisherman passing through - they dock their boats right next to the building, and head in for a hearty meal and a strong drink.  House microbrews are especially popular.

Havana Club Restaurant and Cigar Lounge

If you're looking for authentic Cuban cuisine in the Cayman Islands, the Havana Club Restaurant and Cigar Lounge is where you go.   After your meal, head to the back lounge for the intimate feel, Cuban cigars, and smooth jazz music.

Kaibo Beach Bar and Grill

...get away from the out-of-town crowd...

Located at the Kaibo Yacht Club, the Kaibo Beach Bar and Grill is known for being relaxed, fun, and romantic all at once.  The facility contains a bar and dining area, and is situated away from popular tourist spots, so those who want to get away from the out-of-town crowd usually come here.

La Esperanza

La Esperanza is an indoor/outdoor bar that is also known for its jerk barbecue.  Inside is a lounge area featuring a pool table, and reggae and salsa music is always blaring.

Legendz

Legendz is known as one of the most popular bars on Grand Cayman. Nights are filled with comedy shows, dance parties, and live music, and there are two big screen TVs for sporting events.

Lone Star Bar and Grill

As the saying goes "you can take the person out of Texas, but you can't take Texas out of the person."  Well, in this case, you can't take Texas out of the Caymans, either.  The Lone Star Bar and Grill pays homage to all things Texas, with big, juicy burgers on the menu, sports on the TV, and beer at the bar.

Macubuca Oceanside Tiki Bar

Macubuca Oceanside Tiki Bar is a beach side bar that definitely looks the part: coral columns, a thatched roof, and ocean-inspired art line the walls.  There are daily specials, two big screen TVs, and live music on weekends.

Morgan's Harbour Marina

Owned by an Australian native, Morgan's Harbour Marina not only offers seafood, grilled items, and stiff drinks, but provisions for boaters passing through.

My Bar

My Bar is a favorite hang out for many local professionals, who come here to unwind and play a few rounds of dominoes after work.  The bar is an indoor/outdoor venue high on energy, yet relaxing all at once.

Nectar

Nectar is a hip martini and tapas bar located in the back of a strip mall off Seven Mile Beach.  Hookah and live music are available on varying evenings.

The Office

A favorite for local professionals, the Office is a good place to go for a mix of music and cocktails.  Karaoke is popular here.

Rackams Waterfront

Rackam's Waterfront in Georgetown offers a relaxing beach side atmosphere, excellent food, and happy hour prices.  This bar is popular with snorkelers and fisherman who can walk right out of the water and into the building.

Clubs

District 6 Night Club

Two floors, three bars, and over five thousand square feet make District 6 Night Club the largest night club in the Cayman Islands. The club one of the more high end clubs on the islands.

Jet

Jet is a hip nightclub for the 20-something, spandex-clad, set.  DJ-spun hip hop music is the norm.

Matrix

Matrix features the latest in audio and visual technology, and keeps the party going with high energy beats. There is a large bar with reasonably priced drinks, and a dress code is in full effect.

The Next Level

The Next Level is a true night club that plays Latin, reggae, hip hop, r&b, dance hall, salsa, and meringue music. Two VIP lounges are available by reservation.

O Bar

O Bar is a trendy nightclub with a DJ spinning the latest hits on a nightly basis. The club is known for it's acrobatic bar tenders who can juggle fire. There is a private loft on the upper level of the club available by reservation only.

Pepper's Night Club

Pepper's Night Club is the place to go to dance to Caribbean rhythms and enjoy a real local experience.

Royal Palms Beach Club

Though there is a restaurant on site (the Reef Grill), most people visit the Royal Palms Beach Club strictly for the live island music and hours of energetic dancing.

Rusty Pelican

Located on Reef Resort property, the Rust Pelican is a laid back, outdoor bar.  The bar serves up whatever fruity cocktail your heart desires, as well as light bar food.

Silver Palm Lounge

The Silver Palm Lounge can't seem to decide what kind of bar it wants to be.  One side is a replica of an English library, while the other is a dark and sexy lounge area.  Both sides feature ages rums, wine, martinis, cigars, tapas, and sushi.

Tipsy Turtle Pub

If you're looking for a late night, head to the Tipsy Turtle Pub; it is the only bar on the island of Cayman Brac open after midnight.  The bar serves up particularly good bar food, though popcorn is free, there are ping pong tables, and karaoke night is on Wednesday.

Other After Dark Entertainment

You don't necessarily have to spend your nights hanging out at a bar or dancing in a club, there are plenty of other after dark options in the Cayman Islands.

One option is to spend a few hours shooting pool at a local pool hall, such as the Corner Pocket Pool Hall or Attic Billiard Lounge, both on Grand Cayman.

If the theater is your passion, or you are interested to see what kind of talent exists on the islands, head to Harquail Theatre, just north of George Town.  The theater seats 330 people, and productions range from musical concerts to dramatic plays to stand up comedy.  There are two other theaters on Grand Cayman, the Lions Centre and Prospect Playhouse.

Other options include nighttime cruises, various dinner shows (luaus, comedy shows, and cabaret are the most common), and movie screenings.

Just because the sun is setting in the Cayman Islands, doesn't mean it's time for you to go to bed.  Whether you like to dress up or dress down, and whether you prefer hang out in a crowded dance hall or kick back in a quiet bar, the Cayman Islands has a little something for everyone.
