Cayman Islands Activities

Every type of traveler has a different idea of what their perfect Caribbean holiday will entail.  Some imagine days spent on the beach soaking up sun and using a snorkel to swim with tropical fish.  Others would rather spend their days shopping and their nights partying with locals.  Whatever you imagine your vacation to be like, the Cayman Islands has enough options that everyone will return home satisfied.

Water Sports

When vacationing on an island, it is hard to ignore the waters that surround you – especially in the Caribbean where the waters are so clear and bright blue.  The Cayman Islands are said to have some of the best diving sites in the world, and while many people prefer to swim in the safety of their resort pool, you don’t want to let your vacation pass you by without taking the opportunity to take a snorkeling or diving trip.  Chartering a boat for a sailing tour or fishing trip is another great way to spend time out on the waters surrounding the islands.

Sports

Active travelers won’t have to give up their daily exercise routines just because they are on vacation.  Many resorts have on site gymnasiums, and hiking trials are a great way to explore the Cayman Islands while at the same time breaking a sweat.  If golf or tennis is your forte, some of the highest rating golf courses and tennis courts are located on Grand Cayman.

Watching spectator sports are an exhilarating way to pass the time.  There are four sports complexes that host popular sporting events including cricket, rugby, basketball, soccer, and squash.

Shopping

...mingle with local residents...

Events and Festivals

Attending an event or festival in the Cayman Islands is a great way to mingle with local residents, learn about important cultural celebrations, and sample great regional fare.  Some of the can’t miss events include Batabano Carnival and Pirates Week Festival. Nightlife

In the Caribbean there tends to be two extremes when it comes to nightlife: party central or laid back and quiet.  The Cayman Islands tend to be somewhere in between.  There is plenty to do after the sun goes down, from attending a play to dancing the night away at a club, but the partying seems to be refined rather than get out of control.  Whether you enjoy a quiet night cap or a loud concert, you’ll find that nightlife in the Cayman Islands runs the gamut.

And this is only the beginning.  From touring attractions to sampling local cuisine, there is so much to do in the Cayman Islands you’d be hard pressed to find yourself without something to keep you entertained.  If you play your cards right, you may just need a vacation from your Cayman Islands vacation.
